Grandma's Cinnamon Pudding Cake

This is one of my favorite desserts!

Combine 1 3/4 c. brown sugar, 2 Tbsp butter, 1 1/2 c. cold water. Bring to boil and cool. Sift together 2 c. flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 2 tsp baking powder, 2 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Cream 2 Tbsp butter and 1 c. sugar. Add dry ingredients alternately with 1 c. milk. Blend well. Spread in greased pan. Pour brown sugar mix over top. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
Bake at 350 for 35 min.
Serve with whipped cream.
