48 caramels
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/4 c. brown sugar
2 c. chocolate chips
7 1/2 Tbsp milk
1 1/2 c. quick cooking oats
2/3 tsp baking soda
1 c. margarine or butter
Melt caramels with milk in microwave. Set aside. Combine flour, oatmeal, salt, soda, brown sugar, and melted butter. Mix until well blended. Pat 1/2 of this mix into a 9 x 13 pan (ungreased) Bake at 350 for 10 min. Sprinkle 1 1/2 c. of chocolate chips over baked mixture (chopped nuts may be added if desired). Pour melted caramel over chocolate chips. Sprinkle remaining flour mix on top. Do not smooth. Sprinkle 1/2 c. chocolate chips on top of that. Bake 15 min at 350. Let cool, cut into bars.
